After a Pi walk and a garbage bag drop off, we left Hartley Bay at 7am. I thought about waiting for the fuel dock to open but there was no hours of operation posted and the previous day both the band office and the fuel dock were supposed to be open when we arrived at about 3:30pm. Neither was and I feared a repeat and I wanted to get travelling, so we did. We definitely had enough fuel on board to make it to Prince Rupert, where there was a more dependable fuel dock. There was a long narrow straight called Grenville Channel that we had to use to get to Prince Rupert. I thought it would be nice to get half way but there was no wind, the seas were flat and the current boosted my motor cruising speed from 6 to 9mph. We made it much further than I thought we would, meaning a shorter leg into Prince Rupert, the next day. We got to a nice protected anchorage in Kumealon Island Cove, about 3 pm. Put Pi on a small rocky and grassy islet near the boat, to do her “business” and put the crab trap down for a few hours, in hopes of a seafood dinner. A 3 hour soak yielded zip. I wanted to get going early the next morning so I did not leave the trap down overnight.
