D.ay 50

June 24. Left Pleasant Island Cove under windless conditions but against a decent current. Start to see lots of sea otters and other wild life. Once into the park (after having to radio in) again; whales, sea lions, more sea otters and lots of birds. We did a brief anchor off the main dock at the Bartlett Cove control and welcome center. Had lunch and then moved SeaScape to the dock for our 3 hour docking allowance. We walked Pi, for the last time in 5 days. She is not allowed off the boat once we leave Bartlett Cove. It’s; the poop deck or holding it for 5 days. We hope Pi will make the right choice. After that; we walked to the lodge and info center and then went back to the Park office for our obligatory “orientation presentation” which entailed a half hour descriptive video and lecture about the rules for using the park, for private boaters. Not to onerous. Went back to the boat. I watched the unfortunate game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs and Laurence attended a Zoom meeting for our strata condo. No cell service but good internet, thanks to StarLink. Strangely; our new cruising friends; Glen and Cheryl dropped by the dock to say hi. They had just flown into the Park Lodge, leaving their boat, Indigo Wave, at the other end of Juneau, that we had stayed at. They were going to take a charter tour boat to the glaciers tomorrow. We anchored off the dock for the night and were free to head further into the Park for our 5 day tenure in the morning.
