June 26. Because it is a cloudy day with a chance of showers; we decide to hang out in Reid Inlet for the day. The weather forecast is better for tomorrow. Tomorrow we will go up to our “destination glacier”. Today I just do a few minor repairs and maintenance around the boat, deploy the crab trap and we paddle about an hour up to the head of Reid Inlet to check out that receding glacier and get a bit of exercise. We tried to walk up to the Reid Glacier (?) but the rushing glacial and snow melt streams kept us from actual contact. Fishing under regular State fishing regulations is allowed in the park. Pi is still not using the poop deck and looking very unhappy so; damn the torpedos and possible citations. The Park has a rule that no pets are allowed on shore. I assume to keep them from harassing the birds and other wildlife. A short leashed clandestine ding to shore ensued. Much to Pi’s “relief”. The crab trap was down in about 50 feet of water, close to the boat but had nothing. The $100USD non resident fishing license that I purchased in Ketchikan has yet to bear fruit. I did some struggling with the travel blog and dusted off my real camera with the big lens in anticipation of getting some close up photos. I have been really happy, so far, with the camera and editing capabilities of my iphone 13 max. We had a nice lunch, HH and dinner on deck (with only the minor intrusion of the odd horse fly that kept Pi entertained and even fed) in improving weather.
