July2. Left Hoonah about 8 am. About 10 minutes after leaving the dock, I decided to get Pi into her “cruising coat”. Hey Laurence here’s her coat, please get her dressed. Laurence from below; “send her down”. “She’s down there”. “No”. Pi is not on the boat!!! Has she gone overboard!?!? Looking in the water all the way back to the dock. No Pi. We do a quick tie up and see her on a nearby dock finger barking at a dog on another boat. When I was backing out of our slip, earlier Pi was just unattached and I was looking behind us. She must have made the five foot leap back onto the dock then. She knew that there were other dogs on the docks and definitely wanted to upgrade the quality of her social circle. Pi recovered and reprimanded; we were on our way again toward Pavloff Cove where a tour guide in Juneau told us; was a good spot to view bears on the beach in July when the salmon were returning. I guess we were a little early or the salmon were a little late because no bears were seen. Twaz a nice quiet and secure anchorage shared only with another smaller “cruiser”.
