July 15. Another showery day. Twaz fairly windy in the morning making pulling the anchor in Refuge Cove a slower than normal procedure. Put the boat in drive upwind. Activate the electric anchor puller. Repeat numerous times because I put lots of chain out, to be more secure than depths and wind forecast indicated. We left Refuge Cove about 7:15 am into about 10mph wind. Only 2 cruise ships were in Ketchikan as we passed by. A short day. We aimed for Hassler Harbor, where we stopped on the way north. It’s a nice protected cove with a small dogable island just off the anchorage. Pi could run her little heart out for an hour or so, which she gladly did. I put the crab trap down and did some jigging hoping to maybe hook a halibut or sole for dinner. Snagged a 9 inch sea cucumber. That looks like the sum total for a $100USD Alaska fishing license. Got about a couple of ounces of meat off the cuke and put it in a wrap for lunch, after sauteing it in ginger and garlic. Nice chewie texture. That’s all. That’s all! A miniature returnable crab in the trap. No anchorage concerns, so…….a good nights sleep.
