August29. Motored out of Port Renfrew at 7am. No wind and flat seas most of a long travel day. 12 hours of motoring, stopping several times for whale and wildlife watching and HH. We saw more wildlife in this stretch of the trip than any other. Lots and lots of seabirds on the water. A dozen or so grey whales cruising close to shore and kelp beds. Eagles fishing. A gaggle of sealions. Numerous porpices. A small pod of Orcas with one leaping totally out of the water. We pulled in to a popular anchorage off Sidney called Sidney Spit Marine Park. We arrived at dusk and had to find room amongst 30 or 40 anchored and moored boats. As should be expected on a sunny Labour Day weekend. Too tired to row ashore and give Pi a walk or explore the spit.
