Day 43

June 16, up at 5am. It was a rough rock and roll night until about 3am when the swell quit. Laurence and I had no trouble sleeping. Rock -a-bye babies. Pi however was very uncomfortable and tried to get into bed with us. Rebuffed! Check and pull crab trap. Zippo. Easy seas and about 6 hours into the burg of Petersburg. Fuel up and then register with the civic marina for one night. Cheapest marina, so far. 75 cents a foot. No need for $6 electrical hookup. Petersburg is a village of about 4000, with a decided Nordic influence. They do not choose to be visited by large cruise ships. Possibly due to the fact that it would cost a ton of money to upgrade the port. But good for making the town less touristy and stereotypical. Everything a boater could want was easy walking distance from the marina. There were many local attractions and trails etc that we did not have time to explore because the glaciers in Glacier Bay were melting. Would come back here. The weather was great and we had a very nice dinner in an uncrowded kinky outdoor restaurant, followed by an appreciated shower at the marina.
